Ryan Henry Professional Headshot

About

Ryan Henry is a Mexican American baritone celebrated for his commanding stage presence, emotional depth, and compelling portrayals of strong-willed characters. A recent graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), he earned his Master of Music under Dr. Quinn Patrick Ankrum and will return in Fall 2024 to pursue an Artist Diploma in Vocal Performance.

At CCM, Ryan has brought to life roles such as Dr. Rappaccini (Rappaccini's Daughter), Junius (The Rape of Lucretia), and Tommy McIntyre (Fellow Travelers), earning acclaim for his dramatic intensity and vocal nuance. His portrayal of Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro during his undergraduate years at Georgia State University was praised for "conveying aggression and charisma by turns" (The Signal, Atlanta).

Additional credits include Scarpia/cover (Tosca), Falstaff (Falstaff), Elder McLean (Susannah), and the baritone in Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti. A versatile performer, Ryan has also sung major baritone solos in oratorios by Haydn, Rossini, Handel, Duruflé, Fauré, and Saint-Saëns. He is a former Resident Artist with Indianapolis Opera and Sandford Studio Artist at Kentucky Opera.

Outside the classical realm, Ryan toured the Deep South as a vocalist and instrumentalist with the professional mariachi ensemble Mariachi Búhos de Oro. A proud multidimensional artist, he is also a composer and arranger, driven by creative storytelling, connection, and emotional honesty in every aspect of his work.

I'm not just a singer, but a multidimensional artist. Whether I'm performing onstage, writing music, or teaching, I care deeply about connection, honesty, and impact.
